Queer Art by Guelmo Rosa

When I turned 30, I knew I needed a drastic change in my life; so I moved from Puerto Rico to New York City. I told myself that I would use these years to explore every aspect of my sexuality and gender identity. . Come and get to know a little more about me through the language of Brass and the different ways I play with it.

BRASS BODIES

Brass Bodies is a series of brass cutouts and engravings all done by hand. I enjoy making these pieces the most because they allow me to put in practice all my plastics art skills as well as the technics I have adquired these 9 years working in the costume jewelry industry.

Them-catchers

Ive always been obsessed with dream catchers, so I asked myself what would be the equivalent in my craft. Men-catchers, so I can keep all the men I fall in love with in my dreams. I decided to name this series Them-catchers to be inclusive with all genders. Let me create a catcher for you

Wire Drawings

This was my first series utilizing brass wire and using it to start conversations on sex positivism. I had already been making palm trees, fishes, florals and words out of wire for my day job, I was a designer for a costume jewelry company. It was taking the magic away from me, so in order to regain the power I started drawing subjects and genitalia. Showed them for the very first time at the BKQFlea and the rest is history. P.S. Im always up for a wire drawing commission, are you daring enough?
